Windmill Power Generator,The Advantages and Disadvantages.

A windmill power generator in concept is the perfect power generator. Think about it, you don’t use fuel, you don’t have to worry about combustible agents, no refueling at the dead of the night, and wind is free! But in the order of things, where everything has  a balance, windmill power generators do have their own negative aspects. But just before we get into the nitty gritty of the drawbacks of windmill power generators, let us discuss first its benefits, this way, you will be able to make a comparison of its pros and cons and decide whether which of which outweighs the other.

First and foremost is its best aspect, wind power generator, as its name suggests, takes its power from the wind, which is a very renewable energy and it is inevitable, plus, it is free to use by anybody. The energy or the force of the wind pushes the blades of the windmill causing it to turn and spin the turbine below it pushing it to create electrical energy. As the wind goes faster, so does the turn of the blades propelling it to create even more energy.

Secondly, because wind power is renewable, our dependence on fossil fuel will be greatly reduced saving up on costs and damage to our planet, both from gathering the fossil fuel and from the damaging by-products they create when burned. Also, wind power doesn’t create ay by-product which can further cause the deterioration of our planet. Winds come and go and they are as natural as they can be. And as mentioned before, wind can go high so you create extra energy which in excess can be sold back to the electrical company in your area allowing you to make profit out of it.

This force of the wind is also where the problem lies. Now, if you live in an area where the wind force is not normally strong, then you won’t be able to generate enough energy to power your home. Well, there will still be wind but not that strong. So, you might be able to generate only enough power to juice up a number of appliances or only those that doesn’t require a high wattage. Commonly, wind power generators need at least seven to ten miles per hour winds. The solution to this predicament can be a bit costly. You may have to install a wind tower in your backyard to bring your wind power generator at an elevation where the winds are stronger. Also, these may be a bit of a problem in areas where local building codes prohibit such a structure.

There are wind power generators that are specially designed for residential areas and they are usually placed on the rooftops. There are smaller versions where only small amounts of electrical energy are produced. But either way, they can still help you cut down on costs and before you know it, you have already saved up a couple of hundred or thousands of dollars.
